A Town Too Small for Dreaming
• MOVIE
It's 1990 and Shannon Fitzpatrick just graduated from High School. To the outside world, Shannon has it all figured out. She's the pretty and talented drama club star who's about to attend a prestigious music college, but in reality, she yearns for a life behind the camera. Misunderstood by her parents and wracked with debilitating panic attacks, Shannon spends most of her free time making short films with her cast of oddball friends. When summer ends, the tight-knit group goes their separate ways leaving Shannon to deal with the realities of life after high school. Shannon comes from meager means and can barely scrape enough together for her college tuition. She makes the daily commute in her pink 1963 Ford Falcon. Though stylish, the car's in bad shape and she must always drive with the windows down to not succumb to carbon dioxide poising. Struggling to get by and wondering what her place is in the world, she is thrown a curve ball when she meets Charles, a handsome, charming and wealthy British student. The two fall head over heels and all seems right with the world. Even her career takes an exciting turn when she's cast as a pregnant teen in the popular TV show "Crime Stoppers". Soon reality sets in and Shannon realizes that she must decide what she really wants for her future. She's devastated when she discovers that Charles doesn't support her dreams and aspirations. A disillusioned Shannon is offered the chance of a lifetime, the opportunity to move to Los Angeles. With the money from her eccentric Grandmother Lucille's rainy-day fund, Shannon casts her doubts and fears aside and bravely makes the move.
